Shipstern Bluff Tasmania is located 48 km south of Hobart in the Tasman National Park and is known around the world for its mountainous surf break and spectacular landmark. Inspired by the powerful surf and using pure Tasmanian hops, we have crafted a world class beer with our friends at Iron House Brewery. Pale straw in colour and a low level of sweetness, this beer delivers a big fruity punch. With tropical fruit aromas and pine notes, you’ll enjoy a clean crisp taste and a refreshing dry finish.
I grew up in the sixties enjoying the evolution of surfing from riding malibus to short boards in the seventies. I competed in the Australian National Titles and State Titles and was SA champion for several years. During this time I was sponsored by Don Burford and John Arnold, who were both well known in the surfwear and board shaping industries. After surfing Margaret River in 1969 I became inspired by Nat Young and Wayne Lynch, who were both taking the sport to new levels. John Arnold was another strong influence on me with his talented skills in business, and his ability to predict the next fashion trend in surfwear, which helped set the scene for big brands such as Billabong and Rip Curl.
In recent times, I have been captivated by Shipstern Bluff after visiting its spectacular natural ocean coastline. This iconic destination and monstrous surf break has inspired me and my team to launch Shipstern Lager – a world class beer, handcrafted in Tasmania. We have produced this beer to celebrate Shipstern Bluff and its stunning natural environment.
For anyone looking for a full flavoured craft beer with a great hoppy taste, this is for you!

I’ve tried a variety of unique craft beers in Australia and in the United States, but this is my favourite! I have worked in a variety of pubs and bars, but it's still hard to find quality beers like this.

My husband bought a 6 pack of this beer during a trip to Tassie, so I thought I’d try one. I usually don't drink beer, however, I was really surprised how much I liked this! It goes down really well with nice meal or on even its own!
